The Deputy Mayor for Prevention and Security of Barcelona, Albert Batlle, does not foresee applying the sanctioning regime to people who don’t wear a mask if he breach It is not “scandalous”, and it has announced that it will be allowed to sunbathe on the city’s beaches starting this Wednesday if the safety distances and the maximum time allowed are respected, although recreational bathing is still prohibited.
At a telematic press conference, Batlle recalled that it is necessary to see how the standard is developed, but in any case he has indicated that there is an “interpretation strip” when it is said that a mask should be used if the safety distance cannot be maintained.
“It is a subjective concept that we will have to adapt. The indications that the Guardia Urbana and the Mossos have are a lot of information and a lot of support, ”explained the deputy mayor, who has made an appeal to individual and collective responsibility.
“We hope that the sanctioning regime will not have to be used unless there are very scandalous situations that endanger health criteria,” he said.

In addition, Batlle has indicated that, as long as the safety distances are maintained, you can make a “recreational use” of the beaches, which will be open from Wednesday to walk and play sports according to the time bands established by age. Thus, it will be allowed to sunbathe as long as there is no flagrant breach of sanitary measures.
Batlle recalled that trips to the beach can be made in the time allocated for daily walks, for one hour, and a maximum of one kilometer from home. Therefore, only those who live a maximum of one kilometer from them can sunbathe on the beach, and added that access by private vehicle –only on foot and by bicycle– is not allowed and that Recreational bathing is not allowed.
In this way, the strip from 6 to 10 will be for sports or walking; from 10 to 12 and from 19 to 20 the elderly and vulnerable will be able to walk; Children from 12 to 19 will be accompanied by an adult, and from 20 to 23 it will be reserved for federated athletes.
You cannot go to the beach by private vehicle, only on foot or by bicycle. The groynes will remain closed for walks or for fishing. The parks are also open from Wednesday. These instructions are valid until Sunday, waiting to see if Barcelona goes to phase 1 Monday.
