Trainer Barcelona, Ronald Koeman reportedly planning to release up to nine players if he remains trusted as coach next season.
Koeman already has a clear plan about which players to keep and release next season. However, this decision will still await the steps of the board of directors and President Joan Laporta regarding his future as the concoction of the Blaugrana formation.
Reported ASThe nine players who will be released are Matheu Fernandes, Miralem Pjanic, Junior Firpo, Neto Murara, Martin Braithwaite, Samuel Umtiti, Philippe Coutinho, Francisco Trincao, and Riqui Puig.
The last two names, Trincao and Puig, are likely to ask to be released by the club. Both have had minimal opportunities to play under Koeman.
Apart from the nine names, it was rumored that Koeman would not mind releasing Sergi Roberto, Clement Lenglet and Ousmane Dembele as long as a price agreement was reached in accordance with the club of interest.
Especially for Dembele, Barcelona will not mind releasing the player than the former Borussia Dortmund player leaving for free because he has never extended his contract next season.
Koeman will also try to ensure Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets remain in Barcelona’s uniform next season. Even though they are no longer young in age, these three players are still important elements for the team.
The three senior players include untouchable players in Koeman’s Barcelona squad, namely Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Ronald Araujo, Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, Ansu Fati, Sergino Dest, and Antoine Griezmann.
Meanwhile, Messi remains a key figure in the team. However, La Pulga has not provided certainty whether to continue playing at Barcelona or choosing to go to another team at the end of this season.
Barcelona itself only finished third in the Spanish League this season. The Catalan team failed to win the title after slipping in the final phase, so the La Liga trophy this season must be in the hands of Atletico Madrid.
