Barça has gone to zero eight times this season. In LaLiga, he has not been able to score a single goal for Madrid in both games (0-0 and 2-0); and failed in Bilbao (1-0), Granada (2-0) and Valencia (2-0). In the Champions League, he could not score in Dortmund, nor did he do so at home against the presumably weak Slavia from Prague. Finally, in the Copa del Rey he fell again in San Mamés (1-0), after a match in which Messi and Griezmann were inches from the goal … In addition, Barça have won up to three games 1-0 in LaLiga with goals in the last minutes against Atlético, Granada and Real Sociedad. Crying to win as long ago he was not seen.
But perhaps the most relevant fact about Barça’s lack of goal is their statistics away from home in LaLiga. Barça have scored 18 goals in 13 games away from Camp Nou and have a negative balance, since they conceded 19. Madrid or Seville have scored more goals than the leader. Barça have scored the same goals as Real Sociedad or Villarreal away from home and only one more, for example, than Granada. He makes goals so easily (already less frequently) at the Camp Nou, where he has scored five against Betis, Valencia, Eibar or Leganés, as he suffers away.
Poor numbers away from home that show the lack of dynamite that Barça had for seven or eight months and, in part, it could have had to do with the absences dotted with their forwards. Messi missed the entire start of the season with a soleus injury; and Suárez had to undergo surgery on his right knee in January. It was not his first injury. He had already lost in the first league game in San Mamés. Barça, who also made some strange decision such as dispensing with Carles Pérez when he was still dry on forwards, was forced to sign Braithwaite for 18 million euros when the wayward Dembélé returned to crack. The incorporation of Suárez by the break will give alternatives to Setién, who also has Ansu, a player who has shown that despite the fact that his strength at the moment is one-on-one, he also sees goal.
The current Barça forwards have scored 65 goals this season. To put it in context, between Messi, Neymar and Luis Suárez scored 131 goals in the 2015-16 season.
