Barbara Lityńska, next to the series Maciek from “Klan”, is undoubtedly the most recognizable actress with Down syndrome.
She played, among others Matylda in the series “Deep Water”, but mainly operated in Theater 21, which was her second home.
In 2021, the actress faced a family tragedy – the death of her beloved father Jan Lityński. A politician jumped into the river to save his dog. Unfortunately, he drowned.

At the funeral, Barbara said goodbye to her dad with these words:
“You were a good father to me. When I had eye surgery, you were with me. When I needed it, you were always with me in important moments. Thank you for that,” she said with tears in her eyes.
Unfortunately, two years after this tragedy, another death occurred in the Lityński family. Jan Lityński’s daughter also died. This information was confirmed by Teatr 21.
From the statement we learn, among other things, that Barbara Lityńska has been struggling with a serious illness for a long time.
“Dear friends, with broken hearts, we share with you the saddest news that Our Dearest and Irreplaceable Actress, Poet and Revolutionary Barbara Lityńska passed away this morning after a long illness. Barbara, Basia, Baśka – you will always be with us! On every stage of the world” – we read.
We extend our deepest condolences to the Lityński family.
