Barack Obama’s dog Bo is dead “True friend, we will miss him so much” – Corriere.it

“Our family has lost a true friend and a faithful companion.” Thus Barack Obama announced on Twitter the death, caused by cancer at the age of 12, of the dog Bo: “For over a decade Bo has been a constant and kind presence in our lives – he wrote -, happy to see us in our good days. , in our bad days and in all the other days ». Accompanying a photo: the former president runs to the White House with the dog, a water Portuguese, next to him.

Since 2009 in the White House

Bo, ex «First Dog», era arrived as a puppy in the White House in April 2009, a few months after the beginning of Barack Obama’s first term. It is his wife Michelle, in a tweet, to remember how: after the couple promised their daughters Sasha and Maila that, however the vote would go, they would get a dog. Bo was then given to the Obamas by the late Massachusetts Senator Edward M. Kennedy. In 2013, another four-legged friend was welcomed into the family, always a water Portuguese, Sunny. Now the “First Dogs” of the White House – a tradition interrupted during the Trump presidency – are Major and Champ, the two German shepherds of the Biden (soon, they announced, a cat should also arrive).

I tweet

There are several tweets with which Obama wanted to remember Bo: “He endured all the fuss that comes with being in the White House – it’s another post -, he barked but didn’t bite, he loved jumping in the swimming pool in the summer, he was imperturbable with the children, he lived for leftovers around the dining table and had a fantastic coat. ‘ And he concludes: “It was exactly what we needed and it was more than we expected, we will miss it very much,” he concludes.
