In Baños de Agua Santa, one of the cantons where 90% of its population lives off tourism, started the campaign to attract tourists, as soon as the state of emergency was modified this Tuesday, January 23, 2024.
This canton of the province of Tungurahua saw hotel reservations fall by up to 60% the week of January 9, when the Government decreed a state of emergency nationwide due to the internal armed conflict.

Once the Executive relaxed the measure, the Municipality, the Chamber of Tourism and the Tungurahua Geopark of Baños shared a video to highlight the kindness of its people and the beauty of its tourist attractions.
“Baños, your safe destination”, is the motto of the campaign that began strongly hours after the government announcement, which placed this and 160 other cantons at a low risk level and the restriction measures were withdrawn.
Juan Pablo Andino, director of Tourism of the canton, trusts that this will allow tourists to choose this destination to vacation during the Carnival holiday.

We hope to project a successful holiday, this will allow us to continue mitigating the paralysis and increase income to tourist servers,” said Andino.
