Banorte launches Autoestrene Verde, a loan to finance electric and hybrid cars

“We are putting a very attractive bet to finance this type of vehicle with rates from 9.99%, we have reduced the opening commission for customers. We want more families to be able to benefit, that they can have a not so high financial cost and that they start to opt for this type of vehicle,” said Eduardo Reyes Mac Donald, Banorte’s deputy general director of Product Development.

Until the end of 2021, 52,000 units were financed for an amount of 27,792 million pesos, according to bank figures. The amount financed contracted 1.3% compared to the end of 2020.

The bank will also seek that the client take out insurance for his car at a special price, that is, with a discount of between 8 and 10%. The financing goes for up to 72 months achieving an “affordable payment” and can also be contracted for business fleets.

“There are more and more innovative technologies that are allowing more important autonomies and it is the reality in the automotive industry. We are going to see more and more vehicles of this nature,” added the manager.

What is Autoestrene Verde?

This is the new credit for the acquisition of hybrid and electric vehicles offered by the bank. The interest rate starts at 9.99% and an opening commission of 1.5%

The rate for traditional cars is 11% or more, according to Reyes Mac Donald, while the average opening commission for a car is 2.5%.

Banorte highlighted that owners of hybrid and electric cars are exempt from taxes for new cars, as well as the payment of ownership. This type of car also has the benefit of being able to circulate every day of the week and some discounts with IAVE.

Mariuz Calvet, director of Sustainability and Responsible Investment at the bank, said that the trend of using fossil fuels such as gasoline is already being left behind.

“The trend is sustainable mobility and the same automakers around the world have commitments to transform their fleets so that by 2030 or 2040 they are sustainable,” he stressed.
