Card payment, about to change
Recently, Mastercard has announced that in the coming years its new credit cards they will no longer have magnetic stripes. They predict that it will be from the year 2024, in two years, when the cards, as we knew them, will change.
They have assured, yes, that all those clients who have theirs and it expires after the entry into force of this change, will be able to continue using theirs with total normality. Of course, until 2023, when the company decides to take the step and fully implement its new system. What will it consist of? Change the magnetic stripes of the cards for the biometric system. In other words, very soon Mastercard will use fingerprints with chips to verify the identity of the cardholder.

When a customer requests this card, they must register their fingerprint on the chip included in the card, which will thus replace the usual magnetic stripe. Then, when it is time to make any type of payment with the card, It will be as simple as placing your finger to do it. If the reading matches, the card can be activated to allow payment.
In this way, Mastercard goes one step further to safeguard the security of its customers, since with this new system it will be possible to prevent theft, cloning and unauthorized purchases. This change in the cards, in addition, not only gives a plus of security to these payment methodsbut will also speed up any type of transaction.
These new cards will not require a PIN, but the customer will be able to enter it manually if they cannot place their finger on the reader or have suffered some type of injury with which the fingerprint could have been, in some way, damaged, and with it the operation is difficult.
