Bankruptcy declared by Vita Hästen

Västervik can get the place

The White Horse has major financial problems.

Now the Allsvenskan hockey club has submitted a bankruptcy application to the Norrköping district court.

Västervik has thus received the go-ahead to remain in the league, reports Västerviks-Tidningen.

The White Horse has struggled with major financial problems. Earlier this year, the ice hockey club announced that it needed to raise four million kroner to get an elite license and be able to continue playing in the hockey Allsvenskan after the season.

Earlier this week, there was also a message from the Administrative Court which stated that the White Horse must pay back the roughly 800,000 kroner it was paid in short-term support during the pandemic years.

In default

The bankruptcy application was submitted on Friday.

“Vita Hästen Ishockey AB, is insolvent which is not temporary and declares that the Norrköping district court immediately puts the limited company into bankruptcy”, can be read in the bankruptcy application.

The club held an extra annual meeting at the end of February. There it was reported that the limited company had a negative equity of SEK 4.6 million and the year’s profit was a minus of SEK 6.8 million, reported NT.

Not paid wages

The limited company did not have the capital to be able to pay salaries for the month of March, which is one of the factors behind today’s decision.

– We can’t continue to run this when we can’t even pay salaries. It would have worked if you believed that there was a healthy core in the company in general, but there are also other factors behind it. I’m going to investigate this now, why is it insolvent, who is responsible and so on. You have six months to do that, says the bankruptcy trustee, lawyer Magnus Nedstrand NT.

Nedstrand will meet staff at the club next week.

– I will meet the employees on Monday and get as much information as possible. All staff who are not dismissed will be dismissed, he says.

The club’s chairman Rickard Rauge on the question of whether the chances for hockey allsvenskan play are non-existent:

– I do not know. I can’t answer that today. We haven’t been here for so many hours. These questions will be crystallized here in the future, he tells the newspaper.

Rauge further says that the club’s youth and junior activities are the highest priority.

Västervik can stay

April 30 is the deadline to sort out the elite license. Only the club’s A-team operations are run through the limited company.

Now Västervik, which was relegated from the Hockey Allsvenskan, will have to stay.

Something the club’s sporting director Victor Öhman confirms Västerviks-Tidningen.

– We play in the Hockeyallsvenskan next season. We have received confirmation from the league’s sporting director Erik Ryman, says Öhman to the newspaper.

Vita Hästen came in eighth place in the hockey Allsvenskan and went out against Västerås in the round of 16.

Sportbladet has sought representatives from White Hästen.
