Bangkalan Records 114 HIV/AIDS Cases in the Last Year

SuaraMalang.id – Cases of HIV/AIDS in the District Bangkalan, East Java is quite worrying. In the past year, there have been 114 cases of people living with HIV/AIDS.

“That’s the accumulated amount from the previous year to this month,” said Head of the Division (Head of) the Eradication of Infectious Diseases and Environmental Health at the Bangkalan Regency Health Office (Dinkes), Rizkiyah Nuni Wahyuni, Sunday (31/7/2022).

He explained, out of a total of 114 patients, HIV-AIDSfive of whom are minors.

“Yes, it is true that there are five children with children,” he said.

It is said, in handling HIV/AIDS sufferers, the government has a role in providing free treatment. Thus, all patients receive treatment at regional hospitals or those managed by the government.

“For free treatment from the government and referral treatment to hospitals,” he concluded.

Launching various sources, HIV causes AIDS and interferes with the body’s ability to fight infection. The virus can be transmitted through contact with infected blood, semen, or vaginal fluids.

Within a few weeks of HIV infection, flu-like symptoms such as fever, sore throat, and fatigue may occur. Then the disease is usually asymptomatic until it progresses to AIDS.

Symptoms of AIDS include weight loss, fever or night sweats, fatigue, and recurrent infections.

There is no cure for AIDS, but strict adherence to taking anti-retroviral regimen (ARVs) can slow the progression of the disease and prevent secondary infections and complications.
