Bandai Namco: PS5 Sleep Mode May Lead to Failed Saves in Elden Ring – Gaming – News

Bandai Namco, publisher of Elden Ring, acknowledged in a blog post that players on the PS5 could lose their progress if the PS5 unexpectedly shuts down or goes to sleep. The advice is to close the game completely to be sure of a good save.

Bandai Namco says ‘know what’s causing the problem’ and work on a patch for it. The company also apologizes for “potential inconvenience caused by” [de technische problemen]† While a next patch is obviously on the way, Bandai Namco is not giving any indication of when it will be released.

Further problems that the Japanese company recognizes are disappointing frame rates on PC, Easy Anti-Cheat that won’t start if the player’s username is a multibyte–character contains and too high mouse sensitivity.

Digital Foundry analysed the game’s performance on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. The editors reported that ’60 fps is rarely, if not almost never, achieved on the PS5 and Series X’. The only way to hit 60fps anyway is a bit of a workaround: playing the PS4 version on the PS5 results in lower graphics quality, but a ‘consistent 60fps’. Bandai Namco does not express a clear intention in his blog post to improve this situation. On the PC side, Digital Foundry notes stuttering frame rates, a maximum of 60fps and no support for ultrawide resolutions.

Bandai Namco and FromSoftware came on Thursday, the release date, with update 1.02 for Elden Ring. According to the developer, this update was supposed to improve the stability of the game. Also, the player controls ‘improved’, but exactly what that means was not stated.

Elden Ring is the latest game from FromSoftware, known for games like Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. The studio is responsible for creating the Soulslikegenre and its games are often loved and all relatively challenging.
