The ban on flights and boat trips from the United Kingdom to the Netherlands will expire on Tuesday at 0.00 am, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Monday evening. The British variant of the corona virus has already been spread in the Netherlands to such an extent that the ban no longer has any added value, according to the ministry.
Travelers traveling to the Netherlands from the United Kingdom must still be able to submit a negative test result before departure. Upon arrival, it is urgent to go into quarantine for ten days.
The flight ban was imposed on January 23 because of the worrying British variant of the virus, which appears to be more contagious than the original virus variant. The flight ban was intended to prevent a further spread of the British variant in the Netherlands.
Travelers from South Africa and countries in Central and South America are still banned from flying because of the virus variants found there. These travel restrictions will remain in force until at least April 1, said outgoing minister Cora van Nieuwenhuizen (Infrastructure and Water Management) last week known.
Although it is still not allowed to travel to the Netherlands from countries outside the European Union, exceptions are made for certain people. This list of exceptions was temporarily suspended due to the coronavirus situation, but is now back in effect.
For example, business travelers, students, knowledge migrants, professionals from the cultural and creative sector and people with long-distance relationships are allowed to travel to the Netherlands.
