With all understanding for the economic worries of restaurateurs, there is no tolerance for such behavior, said the Mayor of Linz in a broadcast in the evening. The behavior was irresponsible and lacking in solidarity with people who forego a lot and adhere to the applicable regulations, said Luger.
Landlady argued with “economic emergency”
The 51-year-old landlady had opened the restaurant in the afternoon – a poster read: “As a mom I am forced to circumvent the regulations … I can no longer look after my child.”
Unlocking despite lockdown
A Linz restaurateur took it seriously and opened her restaurant in Linz’s old town on Monday. The 51-year-old cites pure desperation as the reason. Due to a lack of income, she and her child are on the verge of homelessness.

Authorities stepped in quickly
The woman had announced the action, but it was over after less than an hour. The authorities asked people to leave the place. 45 – mostly maskless – guests were checked and reported. The landlady is also reported, the penalty is up to 30,000 euros.
The mayor of Linz, in his function as district captain, imposed an official entry ban that evening with immediate effect, and the bar was cleared.
