In parallel with the aforementioned events, the Baltic Drama Forum playwrights’ think tank will take place Baltic non-dependence, which is an international meeting of field representatives in Riga. It will bring up and discuss topics such as the work of different types of playwrights and its inclusion in the performing arts structures of Northern and Eastern European countries, looking for mutual dependencies, connections and methods for more stable and safer activities, as well as international cooperation. The workshop will take place for three days – from October 31 to November 2, and during it there will be introductions, adoption of good experiences, discussions about the activities of the participants, representation of the work of playwrights, similarities and differences of the performing arts systems of the represented countries, challenges and potential solutions. In order to discuss the ideas that emerged during the think-tank in the wider community, at its conclusion, on November 2 at 15.00, professionals in the field and anyone interested are invited to a public discussion at the Eduard Smilģa Theater Museum of LKA.

On the other hand, from November 2 to 5, there will be an exhibition of Latvian theater performances, whose purpose is to reveal the diversity of Latvian theater to an international audience, introducing both state and municipal theaters, as well as non-state theaters and independent producers. The show includes 19 performances, which were selected together with the theaters, with the condition that the selected performances should reflect the artistic strategy of the given theater as accurately as possible. Such a show has not been held in Latvian theater for a long time – by this time, the earlier “young” generation of directors have become recognized professionals and young stage artists have already claimed their place on the stage. The viewing of the performances is organized by the Union of Latvian Theater Employees, the creators and coordinators of the program: Maija Pavlova, Jevgēnija Šermeneva.

A series of theater-related conferences will also take place during the forum week – in cooperation with the annual conference of the Latvian Academy of Culture Crossroads of culture The theater section of the conference is planned for November 1 with papers in Latvian; On November 2nd – the conference of the Baltic Drama Forum, where the Baltic directors – Krista Burāne from Latvia, Uršule Bartoševičūte from Lithuania and Kertu Mopela from Estonia will give lectures.

The day of the Baltic Drama Forum will end with a playwrights’ think tank discussion, but on November 3 and 4 in cooperation with the Nordic Theater Studies Association (ANTS/Association of Nordic Theatre Scholars) at an international scientific conference Acting.
