Ballon d’Or 2022 | Karim Benzema wins the Ballon d’Or; Alexia is a player

Real Madrid’s super French striker Karim Benzema was awarded the 2022 Ballon d’Or as the best footballer in the world. Benzema beat Barcelona’s Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, Belgian Manchester City player Kevin De Bruyne and Senegalese Bayern Munich player Sadio Mane to win the award.

Barcelona’s Spanish Alexia Putellas has been chosen as the best player for the second consecutive time. Ada Hegerberg, Beth Mead, Lucy Brons and others won the Best Actress award for the second consecutive time. The Barça captain has scored 11 goals in 10 Champions League matches.

Barcelona central midfielder Gavi won the Copa trophy for the best young player. The 18-year-old Spaniard won the award behind Real Madrid’s French midfielder Eduardo Kamavinga and Bayern Munich’s German midfielder Jamal Musiala.

Robert Lewandowski won the Gerd Muller Award for Best Forward for the second time in a row, while Real Madrid’s Belgian goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois won the Lev Yashin Award for Best Goalkeeper. English club Manchester City won the best club award. Liverpool finished second and Real Madrid third.
