F1 is back, with the 20th edition of the Formula 1 Bahrain GPwhich takes place this year between next Thursday (February 29th) and Saturday (March 1st). Thus, qualifying takes place on Friday at 4 pm, in mainland Portugal, and the race on Saturday at 3 pm.
The Sakhir Circuit hosted the first GP held in the Middle East, in 2004, and is a track where major races are held. It is practically located in the middle of the desert, the sand sometimes bothers the pilots. Since 2014, it has been held at night, has long straights and slow hairpins, which allow for a lot of overtaking. This is a track where tire management is very important, with traction being the key to strong qualifying and race pace.
The GP starts late in the local afternoon, so temperatures drop as the race progresses, affecting the behavior of the tires.
