Bahlil Regarding Softbank’s IKN Funding: Who Said Masayoshi Resigned?

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said funding for the State Capital (IKN) from Softbank is still being negotiated. He said negotiations were still going on and looking for the right formula.

“Who said Masayoshi was leaving? Who said Masayoshi resigned? Currently, negotiations are still going on. What is called a negotiation in the investment world, as long as the point is not stated, it is still going on,” said Bahlil when met at his office, Monday, April 25, 2022.

Regarding the amount the government negotiated with Softbank, he declined to give details. Bahlil said the proposal from Softbank still uncertain.

“Because Masayoshi his proposal is still back and forth, but there is still room,” he said.

Bahlil said the government also did not fully depend on capital from Softbank. With Softbank or not, the space for investment in IKN is still wide open for other parties.

“We don’t depend on Masayoshi. IKN does not mean there is no Masayoshi, dead. He made the offer, if it doesn’t match that’s okay. There’s something else,” he said.

As is known, in mid-March Softbank announced that it was withdrawing from the IKN construction mega project. However, his party will continue to invest in Indonesia through companies in the SoftBank Vision Fund portfolio.

For the development of this IKN requires funds of Rp. 466 trillion, of which 19-20 percent uses the State Budget (APBN). Until now, the government is still looking for investors and negotiating with various parties from within and outside the country.
