Bagneres-de-Bigorre. Wearing a mask: “Health is also solidarity”

the essential
Since the end of the wearing of the compulsory mask in supermarkets and other closed places, many people continue to wear it and in some stores, it is even strongly recommended.

The day after the lifting of the main health restrictions, including the wearing of a mandatory mask in closed places, some store managers do not hesitate to call for caution, as at Briconautes, in Pouzac where Amandine and François wish above all to protect their employees. It was through a quick note on social networks that the couple recalled that the pandemic was not over: “To protect each other, the whole team has decided to continue to welcome you to the same sanitary conditions as before, masks, ventilation, disinfection of surfaces, hydroalcoholic gel available, distances… We recommend that you continue to wear a mask when you come to the store and to apply the barrier measures, take care of yourself “.

“Continue prevention”

While a few unpleasant comments have punctuated the news feed, the vast majority of customers understand and are even in favor of this additional safety net, as Amandine points out: “Currently, the mask is no longer mandatory, but we recommend it. The specialists still don’t agree on this virus so we continue to do prevention, it costs nothing and we protect each other”. Because this is indeed the primary concern of the management team, the protection of employees, some of whom may be fragile and therefore at risk”. It is also on this aspect that management has approached, gropingly like everyone else, the first confinement. But here, from the start, we adapted and we even anticipated: “At the very beginning of the pandemic, we were lucky to have been helped in the development of an internal company health protocol, by the gendarmes and caregivers to whom we had provided the store’s FFP2 masks when they were completely lacking. At the time, we had employees who were particularly at risk, people with more or less severe pathologies. I believe that we were the pioneers in the protocol put in place, if only for our employees and our customers. We too had difficulty understanding the measures taken by the government such as closing certain departments, it seemed quite illogical to us when wearing a mask is much simpler and surely more effective. I also want to remind you that we must preserve the caregivers who have had it for months, so we continue to focus on prevention”.

“We were pioneers”

From the first deconfinement, the same caution remained in place: “We bought the masks, we stuck to the gauge of 20 people which was not easy, we were very careful, we were ready for the protocol then imposed with, in particular, the masks in store”. Measures welcomed by customers who, for the most part, come in masked: “These are common sense measures and customers really follow. Of course, there are people who enter the store without a mask, we are not forcing anyone. Afterwards, I hear, we all want to get back to a normal life, to come back as before, but a mask doesn’t take away any freedom in a closed environment, it’s just a matter of common sense. over and the caregivers continue to do a wonderful job. We would grow out of this thing if we had a little respect for others. I hope it will end but, in doubt, I prefer to protect my employees. Health it is also solidarity”.
