Badminton Asia Championship Results: Defeat Momota, Chico Qualifies for Round of 16 All

KOMPAS.com – Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo advance to the second round or the last 16 Asian Badminton Championship 2022 after beating the first seed Kento Momota (Japan).

The duel between Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo and Kento Momota took place at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex, Manila, Philippines, Wednesday (27/4/2022) morning WIB.

In that match, Chico won after playing three games with a score of 17-21, 21-17 and 21-7.

In the round of 16, Chico will wait for the winner between Lee Cheuk Yiu (Hong Kong) and Bahaedeen Ahmad Alshannik (Jordan).

Chico started the first game with a 4-1 advantage over Kento Momota. He then moved away by five points from Momota in a 7-2 position.

The men’s singles ranked 52nd in the world still maintained its lead to a 10-7 score, before Momota finally equalized to 10-10.

However, Chico managed to close the first game interval with a score of 11-10. After the break, the match between Chico and Momota was more intense.

Both players got the same points three times after the interval, namely at 12-12, 14-14 and 17-17.

Chico’s pace of numbers then stopped at 17, while Momota continued to advance to close the first game with a 21-17 victory.

The defeat in the first game did not dampen Chico’s enthusiasm. He immediately stepped on the gas at the start of the second game and took a 7-0 lead over Momota.

On the other hand, Momota is trying to reduce the difference in numbers with Chico. He managed to get six points in the second game interval at 6-11.

Meanwhile, Chico back away by widening the distance to seven points after the second game interval. In that period, Chico won 14-7.

However, Momota who excels in terms of experience and flying hours is able to put pressure on Chico.

He won four straight points and overshadowed Chico at 11-14. The distance between the two pairs of points is getting thinner when the scoreboard shows the number 13-15.

However, Chico managed to stop Momota from getting points and instead he gained three consecutive points so that he was able to maintain an 18-13 advantage.

The advantage was maintained until Chico reached game points 20-16 and secured the second game with a 21-17 victory.

Like the previous two games, Chico immediately led far at the start of the third or decisive game.

After a 3-1 position, Chico then advanced to a 6-1 and 11-4 lead over Kento Momota in the third game interval.

Chico is increasingly unstoppable after moving sides of the field. He is 10 points ahead at 14-4 and won 21-7.

Thus, Chico advanced to the round of 16 after defeating Kento Momota with a score of 17-21, 21-17 and 21-7.
