Baden-Württemberg is demanding that the federal government take quick precautions for a new corona wave in autumn. Prime Minister Kretschmann also mentions curfews.
Baden-Württemberg’s Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) expects a regulation from the federal government to be able to issue stricter corona rules again. At the government press conference in Stuttgart in the morning, he again called for a toolbox with possible measures to fight the pandemic.
As the most important measures, Kretschmann named a mask requirement, upper limits for persons and contact restrictions as well as a corona test requirement. In his opinion, curfews have also proven to be effective, but that cannot be done with the FDP.
Corona: Kretschmann wants an agreement before the summer break
His advice to the federal government is to agree with the states on a minimum of possible measures before the summer break, said the Prime Minister.
“The fire brigade doesn’t work in such a way that they only order the hoses when they see the size of the fire. Instead, the fire station is full of the equipment that is needed for all cases.”
Four countries want the opportunity for stricter corona measures
Baden-Württemberg, together with Bavaria, Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia, had previously submitted a draft resolution for the conference of health ministers this week. In it, the four states also call on the federal government to create the legal requirements for stricter corona protection measures.
The four federal states also insist that they be involved in deliberating on the law and want to clarify quickly whether there should be a general recommendation for a fourth vaccination. So far, the STIKO only recommends a second booster vaccination for people over 70 years of age.

Lauterbach wants to wait for reports
The FDP in the federal government has already spoken out against negotiating measures before the summer break.
