The pressure on hospitals continues to increase. There are already more Covid patients in hospitals than statisticians expected at the peak of the fourth wave. But we haven’t reached that peak yet. And we don’t know when it will come. The situation in the Netherlands is slightly better for the time being, although it is evolving in the same direction. The Dutch expert group OMT therefore thinks the time is right to cancel events for two weeks, close cinemas and theaters, and limit closing times and group size in the catering industry. Experts from the Belgian expert group are not in favor of such drastic measures, although they do agree that the current rules are not sufficient.
