Children and young people should not show a negative test after a five-day quarantine if they return to school or daycare after a corona infection.

Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) – Children and young people are not expected to show a negative test after a five-day quarantine if they return to school or daycare after a corona infection. For them, therefore, the same rules should apply as for adults, as announced Wednesday by the Ministry of Health and Education. Under current isolation rules, even adults do not have to submit a negative test after five days of isolation after Covid 19 disease when they return to work.

“Children and young people who have already been severely tested by the pandemic in recent years should not be made more difficult to access community facilities,” said Education Minister Theresa Schopper (Verdi). Health Minister Manne Lucha said that protecting the health of children and young people is undoubtedly important – “but it cannot be that children and young people are more stressed than adults”. The rule applies immediately, her ministry said.

More recently, Baden-Württemberg, along with three other federal states, had also pushed for an end to the isolation requirement for corona-infected people. Lucha (Verdi) said: “We should gradually enter the mode of treating a coronary infection as another infectious disease, where the following applies: if you are sick, stay at home.” You need to rely on greater personal responsibility and no longer prescribe a five-day separation obligation for people.
