Azerbaijani Carpets Exhibition at Liepāja Museum

From May 31 to July 2, an exhibition of Azerbaijani carpets “AZERBAIJANS PAKLĀJI. Synergy of the past and the present”, where original woolen carpets made by hand in the traditional Azerbaijani carpet weaving technique are on display.

The exhibition was created in cooperation with the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Latvia and Azerbaijan open joint-stock company “Azerkhalça” (“Azerxalça”). The company revives weaving traditions, restores and popularizes centuries-old hand-woven carpet production.

Carpet weaving is one of the most recognizable forms of Azerbaijani folk art, and thanks to the excellent quality of traditionally woven carpets, they have gained wide recognition throughout the world.
