If the suspension of production in Izhevsk is associated with the shortage of parts and reduced orders for cars from the CIS countries, the shift to a shorter work week is explained by a drop in demand for new cars in Russia. In a conversation with RIA Novosti, the company specified that a final decision has not yet been made and, should the situation in the market improve, a five-day work week will be saved.
On the Izhevsk site, the assembly of the Vesta sedan and station wagon, as well as their cross versions, was organized. It is reported that downtime will last until April 30. Moreover, Vesta is available from dealers and can be bought online. The remaining Lada models are produced at the factory in Tolyatti.
