The Santander City Council has completed the improvement works on Avenida del Faro, which have included paving the road and conditioning the bike lane.
This has been announced by the Councilor for Development and Sustainable Mobility, César Díaz, who has highlighted that, with this intervention, the City Council concludes the IV Road Improvement Plan in Neighborhoods, which has involved a municipal investment of one million euros , giving continuity to the three already executed with a global investment of three million.
Daz has detailed that the asphalting of the section of street located between the intersections with Valdenoja and Ins Diego del Noval streets has been carried out, maintaining all the parking spaces.
The mayor explained that in this way continuity is given to the improvement of the road made between the golf course and the entrance to the lighthouse complex, which included the creation of a new itinerary for pedestrians.
In this case, the project includes the improvement of the current bike lane, which is now located on the right bank of the road (uphill direction) and from now on it will be bidirectional throughout its entire length.
The person in charge of Development recalled that the City Council plans to carry out new improvements in this area of the city as part of the ‘Santander, Norte Litoral – Costa Quebrada’ Tourism Sustainability Plan, which has 3.9 million euros of European funds to improve , enhance, preserve and value the northern coastal area.
Thus, he cited the improvement of the lighthouse environment, the adaptation of accesses and parking lots such as the Mataleas car park or the one on Calle Ins Diego del Noval, next to the golf practice range.
