After the afternoon of this Saturday was reported on social networks the destruction of a work of art at the fair Maco Zone, the OMR gallery reported that in “a huge lack of professionalism and respect”, a “supposed professional critic of art”, Avelina Lésper, “Destroyed a work of one of the most outstanding artists of the moment”; in reference to the creator Gabriel Rico.
“At OMR we are very sad and disappointed by what happened today at the Zona Maco art fair. We do not understand how an alleged professional art critic destroyed a work by one of the most outstanding artists of the moment, ”the gallery said in a statement.
The gallery described that Gabriel Rico was selected for the Venice Biennale last year, within the official selection, with pieces in the Giardini and Arsenale.
He added that “at his 39 years old,” Rico has had individual exhibitions in museums of the stature of Aspen Art Museum in Colorado and that his work will be shown next week at Frieze LA, and that he is one of OMR’s most sought-after artists by collectors and institutions of the moment.

“Although it seems to have been accidental and is irrelevant as it happened, the action of the Stra. After getting too close to the work to put a can of soda on it and take a picture to make a criticism, it undoubtedly caused the destruction, and it is above all a huge lack of professionalism and respect, ”he added.
OMR informed that they have a conversation with the organizers of the Zona Maco fair and contacting the artist and that he will inform about what is appropriate.
