Autism Awareness Events in Strasbourg Continue until April 15th

On the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day, the local association Autisms Today is organizing events from March 27 to April 15. Appropriate film screenings, a big game in the streets of Strasbourg and a gala evening to end in style: it’s time to learn about the issue and surround yourself with people who face the same difficulties.

Each year, approximately 7,500 children are born with autism spectrum disorder. For the French population as a whole, this represents 700,000 people. If today we prefer to use the term “spectre”, it is because the symptoms are multiple and can be felt more or less intensely.

Each individual can therefore be situated differently on this spectrum of autism and certain characteristics will be more or less visible in their behavior such as repetitive behavior, highly developed sensoriality or even communication disorders.

In order to diagnose the disorder as early as possible and for those affected to receive the best possible care, it is important to be informed on the subject. World Autism Awareness Day, April 2, thus makes it possible to highlight issues related to autism and its management in our societybut also to express its support for those affected and their loved ones.

From April 27 to 2: the great challenge of blue hearts

For a whole week, the local association Autism Today invites all Strasbourg residents to express their support displaying blue hearts all over town.

Everyone can make their blue heart in their own way, but the association also offers a kit to download to make your origami heart. Once finished, the challenge is to hang or drop your heart somewhere in Strasbourgbefore taking a photo and posting it on social networks with the hashtags #challengautism and #autismtoday. A draw among the participants will allow you to win a surprise at the end of the challenge.
