Authors Brian Keene, Abdi Nazemian, and Stewart O’Nan File Lawsuit Against NVIDIA for Copyright Infringement in AI Model Training

Three authors are reportedly filing a lawsuit against NVIDIA regarding copyrights used in AI model training without permission.

The three authors are Brian Keene, Abdi Nazemian, and Stewart O’Nan, all three of whom accused NVIDIA of inserting their written work into NVIDIA’s data set of more than 200,000 books to be used as training for the NeMo AI model to imitate writing. language naturally.

NVIDIA itself was reported to have deleted this data collection in October 2023 due to claims of copyright infringement, but the author stated that the company’s act of deleting the data was an admission of guilt.

The lawsuit, filed in San Francisco federal court, states that the authors seek unspecified damages for US authors whose copyrighted works were potentially included in NeMo’s AI model training data in the last three years. NVIDIA itself does not want to comment much regarding the lawsuit they received from these authors.
