Houston Texas. – The rupture of a 96-inch diameter pipe east of Houston left severe flooding in the 610 East peripheral, at the height of Clinton Street, and in neighboring neighborhoods and, in addition, caused that the pressure of the drinking water that reaches the homes is below the levels required by environmental authorities

This Thursday afternoon, the mayor of Houston issued a warning for city residents to boil the water they consume, not only for cooking but also with which they wash their face or hands and use to brush their teeth.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) asked the Houston main aqueduct system to notify all its customers of the notice of boiling drinking water.

“To guarantee the destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, the water for drinking, cooking and making ice must be boiled and cooled before using it for human consumption. The water should boil at the boiling point and then leave it boiling for an additional two minutes, ”reads a statement from TCEQ.

It is also recommended to buy bottled water or get it from other sources safe for human consumption.

The authorities will issue an announcement once the aqueduct water is safe to consume again.
