Austro protective masks are now also produced in Great Britain

Hygiene Austria, the new partnership of the companies Lenzing and Palmers, has now started producing protective masks according to Wiener Neudorf in Great Britain.

The Austrian mouth and nose masks, FFP2 masks and colored face masks for children are now also being manufactured at the Lenzing location in Grimsby, the joint venture partners said on Wednesday.

The production in Wiener Neudorf serves as a blueprint for the production in Grimsby (Yorkshire / Humber region). The experience gained will enable an even faster and smoother start of production.

“The aim of this joint venture is to offer people in Austria and Europe the best possible protection through locally manufactured, high-quality and certified products,” says Stefan Doboczky, head of the listed company Lenzing. “The initial response was enormous: Numerous companies contacted us within a few hours to order millions of orders.”

Hygiene Austria had planned from the start to expand the business with protective articles geographically to other countries, it said in the broadcast. “Demand in the UK for protective masks is being massively driven by the consistent use of COVID-19,” explained Palmers board member Tino Wieser. “The supply chain is complex and it is costly to serve the UK market from Austria.”

“Obtaining PSA for our frontline workers is a top priority for our government,” said Ranil Jayawardena, UK Minister for International Trade.

“In addition to our international sourcing efforts, it is excellent that we have been able to support overseas companies to invest in the UK as well, enabling domestic production of essential goods.”
