Marko Arnautovic could return to Northern Ireland with the former West Ham striker on Sunday night Austria just in time for the meeting of the Nations League.
Arnautovic – the only goalscorer on Northern Ireland’s last visit to Vienna in 2018 – has to be judged after his long journey but manager Franco Foda has indicated he will be involved if possible.
Christopher Trimmel is the only other injury doubt for an Austrian team that starts the game at the top of Group B1 and fights against Norway for promotion to League A.
Niall McGinn and Jordan Thompson will not be traveling Northern Ireland while George Saville left the camp completely.
The Aberdeen McGinn winger and Stoke Thompson midfielder are both injured in Thursday’s 2-1 loss to Slovakia. Saville returned to England for personal reasons after missing Middlesbrough’s last game outside the international window due to a family emergency.
However, Ian Baraclough said all other players were available – including Craig Cathcart and Paddy McNair, who both disabled against Slovakia, and Stuart Dallas, who played much of the game with an elbow injury.
Austria versus Northern Ireland will be broadcast live Sky Sports Soccer from 7.30 p.m. kick-off at 7.45 p.m. Sky Sports Customers can follow the goals played in the match blog live on the website Sky Sports Website and app. Highlights will also be published on the Sky Sports digital platforms and Sky Sports Soccer YouTube channel shortly after the final whistle.
