The Audi 90 GTO with which Ingolstadt at the time mastered the American IMSA championship, serves as a source of inspiration for this even wilder variant of the RS 6 Avant.

Overview :
Twelve third-year students from the Audi Akademie in Neckarsulm got to let off steam on an RS 6 Avant, with this GTO Concept as a great result. In search of an appropriate source of inspiration to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Quattro all-wheel drive, they came up with the Audi 90 GTO. That is the racing car with which Hans-Joachim Stuck, Hurley Haywood and Walter Röhrl took part in the American IMSA (International Motor Sports Association) championship in the late 1980s. That silhouette racer was powered by a pressure-fed 2.2 liter five-cylinder engine that developed over 700 horsepower. The RS 6 GTO Concept draws 600 hp from its V8 biturbo.
The Audi 90 IMSA GTO not only lends its color scheme to the RS 6 GTO Concept, the aerodynamic rims and the side exhaust pipe also make the switch. We also note reworked faceplate that combines a redesigned front bumper with a partially closed radiator grille. The bonnet welcomes extra ventilation slots and the tailgate has a large roof spoiler. Inside, we see a stripped-down interior that swaps the rear seat for a roll cage, while the front seats have to make way for two carbon-fiber Recaro shells with six-point harness from Schroth Racing. Also note the nearly one-on-one inherited cover for the driver’s side window. There are no production plans. And yes, we think that’s a shame.
