A year ago, Audi introduced a range of rechargeable hybrids Q5, A6, A7 and A8 with the TFSI e prefix, which opened a new chapter in the brand’s electrification. Gradually they are joined by new modifications with similar power plants, and now it’s the turn of the all-wheel drive station wagon Audi A6 Avant 55 TFSI e quattro. Like the original sedan with such an index, the Avant is equipped with a two-liter gasoline turbo four (252 hp) and an electric motor built into the pre-selective S tronic “robot” with two clutches. At its peak, the hybrid unit develops 367 hp. and 500 Nm. A 14.1 kWh traction battery is located under the boot floor.

With pure electricity, such a station wagon can travel 51 km (according to the WLTP cycle) and accelerate to 135 km / h. When a gasoline engine and an electric motor work together, the hybrid A6 Avant gains “a hundred” in 5.7 s, and the maximum speed, by tradition, is forcibly limited to around 250 km / h. The power plant, following the example of the rest of the brand’s hybrids, can operate in Auto, fully electric EV and Hold modes, which is designed to maintain the charge level in the battery – in case the last leg of the journey needs to be driven by electric traction (for example, in a park or nature reserve).

Alas, the practicality of the station wagon was sacrificed to low fuel consumption (about 2 l / 100 km in mixed mode according to the WLTP cycle). The boot volume of the standard Audi A6 Avant is 565 liters under the curtain and 1,680 liters with the rear sofa folded, while the new hybrid version can only accommodate 405 and 1,535 liters, respectively. For comparison: even the standard A6 sedan has a boot capacity of 530 liters. Nevertheless, the compartment of the hybrid station wagon boasts a flat floor, which had to be lifted to place a battery under it.

The list of basic equipment includes matrix headlights, four-zone climate control, a virtual instrument panel, as well as the S line package with sports seats and suspension, black decor, red brake calipers and 19-inch alloy wheels. The starting price in Europe is 71,940 euros, but the hybrid Audi A6 Avant is unlikely to reach Russia.
