If you receive an invitation for a free vaccination against monkeypox, do not accept it. The Agency for Care and Health says that there is no vaccination campaign against the virus at all.

The Riks Management Group (RMG) would have decided on 20 May to take measures to limit the spread of the ‘monkeypox’ in our country, according to an email that has already been sent to thousands of Flemish people in their mailbox.

“Anyone who is healthy or infected or shows symptoms must urgently make an appointment for a vaccination via ‘My Citizen Profile’ of the Flemish government. Whoever receives the invitation must answer within 24 hours and confirm whether he/she is coming because the vaccination is not mandatory. But anyone who does not accept the invitation or does not let us know whether or not he/she will be vaccinated will receive a fine,” it continues.

At the Agency for Care and Health, they say “that there is no vaccination campaign at all.” And at Safeonweb, the government’s cybersecurity service, they are talking about yet another phishing attempt and yet another proof that scammers are capitalizing on current events. “Don’t click on a link in a suspicious message, don’t open the attachments, and don’t download applications if prompted to do so,” Safeonweb advises.

Anyone who receives the invitation for the vaccination against monkey pox or other suspicious emails can report this via [email protected].
