The 15th studio album of the group “Depeche Mode” – “Memento Mori” – has been released. It is available on double vinyl, CD, cassette and digital format, according to Sony Music.

The first evaluations of “Memento Mori” were positive – “The New York Times” highlights the group’s “sophisticated dark side”, “Rolling Stone” praised the album’s “personal musical beauty and deep message”, “Associated Press” writes that “”Depeche Mode” have created awareness of their own mortality, but their musical power is infinite.” “The Guardian” has described the event as “the return of the world’s biggest cult group.”
Work on “Memento Mori” began during the covid pandemic, and this has influenced the subject matter of the final record. The album’s 12 tracks take the listener through a wide range of textures and moods, starting with an ominous introduction, telling the story of paranoia, obsession, catharsis, joy and various combinations of these feelings, ending with a resolution.
The world tour of “Memento Mori” opened last week, and already the first concert in the USA was completely sold out. Due to high demand, the tour was supplemented with several concerts; the schedule is viewable “Depeche Mode” website. On August 6, the group will perform in Tallinn, Estonia.
The 81-day tour has already become one of the biggest in Depeche Mode’s history. It is also expected to become one of the biggest world tours of 2023.
