Attention! BUMN companies are now prohibited from building their own power plants

KONTAN.CO.ID -JAKARTA. The Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) will not allow State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) to build their own power plants. BKPM asked BUMN to buy electricity from PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero).

“BKPM will not allow SOEs to build their own generators and continue to use them by themselves,” said BKPM Investment Committee Member Rizal Calvary to KONTAN, Tuesday (18/8).

Rizal said that BUMN requiring electricity in various industrial estate projects would be directed to buy from PLN. “This has been an agreement, PLN is given the task of providing electricity for investment in any projects in the future,” said Rizal.

Rizal said that the government is currently helping PT PLN to accelerate the absorption of excess electricity supply, especially in Java, Madura and Bali (Jamali). “There is an excess supply. PLN is apparently very ready to help supply electricity for industrial needs both in Java and outside Java, “said Rizal.

Rizal said that currently PLN, for example, is ready to supply electricity to Pertamina’s refinery in Tuban and also Pertamina Hulu Rokan in Riau. “I got information from the President Director of PLN. So there is no problem. He also guarantees the reliability of service or power, “said Rizal.

Rizal said that industry and BUMNs do not need to worry about expanding their business. This is because many generators will enter the PLN network. “So that reportedly there will be a capacity of 5,000 MW entering the Jamali network system,” said Rizal.
