Atm, the public transport company of Milan, reveal the future tram which will start circulating in the city in the spring of 2023. The opportunity is provided by Railway Expo, the exhibition of technologies, products and railway systems underway in the Rho-Pero exhibition center, just outside Milan. The mock-up (the 1: 1 scale model, i.e. in its natural size) of the Tramlink, the future vehicle that will renew Atm’s tram fleet. The constructor is the group Stadler. The order represents Stadler’s entry into the Italian tram market.
An investment of 172.6 million
The delivery of the first model is expected by 2022 and, after the usual testing period, it will enter service in the spring of 2023. The tender for the supply of the trams has been awarded to Stadler Valencia and provides for the delivery of 80 vehicles, of which 50 for the urban service and 30 for the interurban one, for a total investment of 172.6 million euros.

A note from Atm explains: «The new trams will progressively replace the older trams, with the exception of the 125 Carrelli, historical symbols of Milan. Among the innovations, 4 monitors will be installed in these communicating carriages, each of which will show the indication of the stops and the route, and general information on the state of city mobility. Furthermore 10 cameras internal also along the entire corridor, will be connected with the control unit Security at Atm to ensure constant supervision and consequently greater safety for all passengers “.
