Athletics. Loann Brélivet from Quimpérois wants gold in the 5,000m – Athletics

French cadet/junior championship in Mulhouse, from July 15 to 17

Some 160 athletes from the cadet and junior categories are competing in their French championship in Mulhouse (Haut-Rhin) this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Some are well equipped to play the leading roles, like junior Loann Brélivet, a member of Quimper Athlétisme.

“I’m going there to win” announces the interested party, who will take part this Friday in the 5,000m final in his category. “This is the race for which I have the greatest chance of winning the title of champion of France. In the 1500m, I think my chances of winning were slim. The South Finistère has competed in only one 5,000m this season. It was in Montesson (Yvelines) at the beginning of June. But the protege of Jean-Pierre Nédelec at Quimper Athlétisme had been forced to retire because of leg pain.

An American comeback

Loann Brelivet hopes that a victory this Friday would be an added advantage for a selection at the world championships in Cali next month. “I did the minima B over 3,000 m. For the moment, the Federation has released a partial selection of the selected juniors who have achieved the minimum A for these worlds. In the middle distance, these minima A are impossible to achieve. After these Worlds, he will board a plane taking him to the United States. At the next school year, in fact, he will integrate the University of Oklahoma. Until then, he hopes to shine on the other side of the Atlantic.
