Two Koranic students “KM” and “KI” were respectively sentenced by the criminal chamber of Bobo-Dioulasso to 2 years in prison and one year suspended sentence. They were found guilty of rape and attempted aggravated rape of a minor.
July 28, 2014. On this day, the city of Sya vibrates to the rhythm of the Ramadan festival. Two Koranic students, minors at the time of the events and all residing with their master in sector 2 of the city, were caught in flagrant rape in the undergrowth. They had just had a few days off from their master for the party. On their walk, they meet an 11-year-old girl who was returning from the store. They call her but she refuses to obey. Thus, the two Koranic learners rush on her and carry her around in the undergrowth to sexually abuse her. Before going into action “KI”, immobilizes the girl’s two arms, closes her mouth to prevent her from screaming and during this time, her companion “KM” penetrates her. “KI” in turn also wanted to take action. He immediately lowers his panties, the time to penetrate the girl, a passer-by sees them. The latter alerts the crowd. For fear of being caught, the two companions take the key to the fields to take refuge in a home. It is from there that the alerted gendarmerie will challenge the two Koranic students.
Course of the trial
At the March 20, 2023 hearing, “Kl” was present while “KM” remains untraceable. At the bar, the accused admitted the acts of complicity of which he is accused. “That day, we met the little girl; we dragged her through the brush and I grabbed both of her arms and closed her mouth to allow my companion “KM” to have sex with her. After the debates, the general prosecutor’s office considered that the facts of rape against “KM” are established. Against “KI”, he described the facts as complicity in rape. Therefore, requires that the two defendants be returned to their parents since they were minors at the time of the facts. Defense lawyer Master Karambiri suggested that we open our eyes to the education of Koranic students. Because it is a de facto delegation of parental authority to these Koranic masters.
