At the casinos, every fourth job is at risk

At Casinos Austria AG, part of the state, every fourth job could be lost. The corresponding, so-called reorganization program ReFIT, which was developed by the company together with McKinsey, will be presented to the Supervisory Board in a special meeting on July 8, reports the “Kurier” (Friday). The twelve domestic casinos have been in the red for a long time, and the corona crisis was added.

By 2021, 427 full-time equivalent jobs are to be cut, but the twelve locations will remain. That is a reduction of 27 percent. Up to 55 percent of jobs could be lost at loss-making locations. The actual number of employees affected is higher because of the part-time jobs and should only arise. Additional clearances and part-time offers are planned.

But if you can stay, you have to expect a drop in wages of up to 15 and 20 percent. Because the personnel costs should be reduced by 11 percent overall.

The management is to be reduced by a third and thus reduced from 113 to 75 full-time jobs. In the head office there is a risk of job cuts of 41 percent to 113 jobs, according to the “Kurier”.

According to the newspaper report, the works council expects a loss of 47 million euros this year. The supervisory board is expected to assume almost 65 million euros. Without renovation, a decrease of almost 56 million euros is expected again next year. Even if the austerity package is implemented, a loss of 13 million euros is expected in 2021. In 2022, however, an increase of 9.5 million euros should again emerge.

The number of guests is dwindling

The corona crisis is causing a “sluggish” return of international guests, the newspaper quotes from the corporate paper. Domestic customers only come back to the casinos in part. According to the “ReFIT” analysis, the reduction in disposable income results in a “lower willingness to pay for entertainment offers”. The trend of fewer guests coming has been going on for some time. Younger age groups in particular stay out as gamers. (apa / kle)
