Last week, the Government of the Federal District (GDF) authorized the public to return to football games. THE Local court rejected two requests for the decree to be suspended. Among the restrictions are the mandatory presentation of the vaccination card with two doses of the vaccine for Covid-19 (or one dose, in case of a single dose vaccine), or a PCR test with a negative result.

Because of this, laboratories around Mané Garrincha promoted actions and discounts to attract new customers. With just over three hours to the start of the game, the movement was calm at the ticket exchange station, with no records of riots and agglomerations.

A similar scenario was seen in Mané Garrincha’s premises. With the exception of two distinct points in the inner part of the biggest stadium in the DF, where there was some agglomeration, the social distance was respected. In the lower ring, banners isolated some rows, alternating places that might or might not be occupied, in order to also maintain social distance. The determination to keep groups of up to six fans together was also respected in most cases.

The game was also attended by President Jair Bolsonaro. He watched the mask game, in one of Mané Garrincha’s cabins.

good atmosphere for players

One of the athletes who seemed most excited about the fans’ return was striker Gabigol. Shortly after Flamengo opened the scoring, Flamengo’s shirt number 9 had a clear chance to expand. He kicked into goal, but goalkeeper Unsain made a good save. Afterwards, he turned to the crowd behind the goal and asked for more noise.

The fans also supported goalkeeper Diego Alves, who missed in Defensa y Justicia’s equalizer. Even with the mistake that cost dearly, the Flamengo shirt 1 received the affection of the fans, who ended the first half shouting the name of the archer.

On the way back from the break, the Argentines had a better time than the Cariocas in the game. This served to scare the crowd.

The explosion of joy, however, came from 20 minutes into the second half. Arrascaeta, took advantage of a kick by Michael and scored Flamengo’s second. Vitinho, shortly after entering, hit a kick with his left leg and still had time to score the fourth, already in stoppage time.

It was the key for the fans to take the game at a party pace, with shouts of “olé” until the final whistle by Chilean Roberto Tobar. Victory, guaranteed spot, renewed optimism: “The champion is back!”, sang the presents to Mané Garrincha.
