At least six dead in ‘extremely dangerous’ tornado in Iowa | Abroad

Among the six people who died are two children under the age of five, local authorities said. Four other people were hospitalized with serious injuries.

Kim Reynolds, the governor of the state of Iowa, has said in a statement that he is “praying” for the victims of the tornado. “Our hearts go out to all those affected by the deadly tornado that swept through our state. Our hearts aches at this time, but I know people from Iowa will come together to help each other in this time of need.”

Severe storms left more than 10,000 people in Des Moines without power. According to the US weather service NWS, the tornado reached wind speeds of up to 233 miles per hour and was “extremely dangerous.”
