On Friday, the state added Marin County, located southwest of Sacramento, to a watch list. as one of the rapidly spreading foci of the coronavirus, due to the 1,400 cases reported in the San Quintín prison, and a rapid spread in the Latino community.
That list also included Solano and Santa Clara counties. Statewide, the number of cases exceeded a quarter of a million on Friday, with 250,431 people testing positive and 6,312 deaths. The Bay Area confirmed 27,804 cases on Friday afternoon, with a death toll of 595.
In Los Angeles County, the number of confirmed cases was 107,667 and 3,454 deaths, more than half of the total in California.
