Regarding your second question, ROG phone 3 and ZenFone 7 when will they be launched? (..) timeline we’ll align ourselves with Qualcomm. Right now the plan is to launch these in late Q2 or early Q3. We will give you an update when we have the finalized timeline.

How much will the gaming smartphone market grow in 2020 compared to 2019? What is ASUS’ view on the TAM* of gaming smartphone? Will the target of turning phone business profitable in 3 years remain unchanged? (*TAM= Total Addressable Market)

Uit de beantwoording van deze vraag en de eerste vraag van deze Q&A komt naar voren dat Asus inzet op ‘high-end and gaming phones’ om de smartphone-tak binnen 3 year winstgevend te kunnen maken.

Last year the ROG II phone compared to ROG I grew quite significantly. For ROG III we’ve set very aggressive goal; compared to ROG II we would like ROG III to grow by at least 30%, or even 50%. I know people care about our three year to profitability – reaching profitability in 3 years. It comes down to whether (gaming phone) market is enabled or not. When the market is enabled, then profitability will follow naturally. Now whether the market is enabled, it has to do with the industry and player feedback. At ASUS remain committed to our goal: reaching profitability within 3 years. We will strive for that.
