Asturias promotes a foster care campaign for 21 children from 0 to 3 years old | BE Gijón | Today for Today Gijón

He Government of Asturias has started in Gijón a foster care campaign to look for families to 21 children up to three years living in centers of the Principality. To facilitate foster care, the Ministry of Social Rights and Welfare has extended this year to 700 euros per month the helps perceived by people who take care of institutionalized minors. The Red Cross and the Meniños Foundation, entities with extensive experience in this field, are also collaborating in the initiative.

The counselor Melania Álvarez, who has participated in the presentation of the campaign, has urged citizens to support this initiative. “We are aware that minors need a family that gives them love and support and we know that Asturian society is supportive. Anyone over 25 years of age who has the will and enthusiasm may be ideal to offer a home to the little ones, “he said.


The inauguration took place in the Jardines de El Naútico, in Gijón, where a large cube has been placed on whose faces images of boys and girls are reflected. Under the motto ‘I was waiting for you’, the Principality aims to sensitize citizens to find welcoming families. The cube will remain until the 22nd in Gijón and later it will be installed in Oviedo Y Aviles. Posters and information brochures will also be distributed in the rest of the councils of Asturias.
