The agreement between Verlander and Houston arrived on November 17, prior to the start of the work stoppage in the majors, but it had not been made official by the organization due to problems with the language of the contract, report The Athletic.
Before Verlander and the Astros could get close in the middle of the MLB hiatus, both parties received authorization from the commissioner’s office and the Players Association, faces of the dispute that has paralyzed the league.
Approval received by MLB and the union allows Verlander to play at Minute Maid Park for two additional campaigns in exchange for an average annual salary of 25 million of dollars.
