JAKARTA, iNews.id – For astronomer have seen young planets before. However, it is rarely as young as these recent observations by astronomers.
As CBS News puts it, a team led by the University of Hawaii has discovered 2M0437b, one of the youngest planets ever discovered at just a few million years old.
The baby planet was found in the Taurus Cloud nursery and is young enough that it still radiates heat like lava from its birth. Most importantly, this is also a very rare opportunity to observe the baby’s world directly, as quoted from Engadget.
Researchers still need to use special optics to compensate for Earth’s atmosphere, but they don’t need to use host stars or other tricks to study the planet. This helps 2M0437b be about a hundred times farther from its star than Earth is from the Sun, reducing the chance of interference.
