Astronomers Find Planets That Have Rain of Gems in the Solar System

JAKARTA – Astronomers investigate planet a giant exoplanet 855 light years from Earth. This planet with extreme heat has a lot of gems raining.

Astronomers believe that the planet has a rain of gems because they have investigated its atmosphere. The most detailed analysis to date has revealed for the first time the conditions and dynamics of the exoplanet’s permanent night side.

“Despite the discovery of thousands of exoplanets, we were able to study only a small part of the atmosphere due to the challenging nature of the observations,” astronomer Thomas Mikal-Evans of the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Germany was quoted as saying. Science AlertTuesday (22/2/2022).

Evans said researchers are now moving outside to take pictures of certain regions of the exoplanet’s atmosphere to study it as a true 3D system.

Planet This exoplanet, WASP-121 b, was first discovered in 2015 and is known as a gas giant about 1.18 times the mass and 1.81 times the size of Jupiter. Two years after its discovery, WASP-121 b became the first exoplanet to have stratospheric water discovered.

But scientists confirm that this planet is not habitable because the temperature is very hot. This WASP-121 b planet has a temperature ranging from 1,227 to 2,727 degrees Celsius.

Of the nearly 5,000 exoplanets confirmed to date, more than 300 fall into this extreme category, but WASP-121 b has been referred to as the “prototype” for a very hot planet.

Previous WASP 121 b atmospheric investigations found heavy metal vapors in the daytime flank atmosphere. The night side is a little more difficult to investigate, as it is about 10 times darker than the day side.
