Assess your oral health in less than 2 minutes

Oral health recommendations to prevent the onset of cavities depend on the individual risk. Is yours low, moderate or high? To answer this question, dental surgeons from the French Union for Oral Health (UFSBD) developed two questionnaires aimed at assessing the risks of carious and periodontal diseases.

The principle is simple: just answer a series of questions relating to oral hygiene (how often do you brush your teeth per day?) And issue tips and best practices to prevent the appearance of cavities. “To prevent caries disease, you must brush your teeth twice a day, once in the morning at breakfast and once in the evening”, can we read for example during the test.

Assess the risk of gingivitis and periodontitis

The other questions, apart from brushing your teeth, relate in particular to the use of toothpaste (fluoridated or not), the frequency of visits to the dentist (recommended at least twice a year for a check-up and scaling) or still eating habits (snacking, consumption of sugar etc). At the end of the test, a score can range from 0 to 24: the higher the number, the greater the risk of caries.

The second test relates to the level of knowledge of periodontal diseases and the good actions to adopt to prevent them. Again, it only takes a few minutes to answer questions, particularly about gum health. Periodontics, gingivitis (red, swollen gums and bleeding) … If you have been diagnosed with these diseases in the past, regular follow-up care at the dentist is necessary.

Another sign that should alert: mobile teeth. Indeed, periodontal disease manifests itself by the destruction of dental support tissues such as bones, gums and ligaments.
