Today, a centrifuge has been put into use in Delft that can generate 150G, or 150 times the gravity on earth. The device can be used, among other things, to test the strength of dikes or the foundations of wind turbines.
Exposure to 150G is fatal for a human. In comparison: a roller coaster achieves about 3G when cornering. “And a trained pilot can handle something from eight to ten times the force of gravity,” explains Harm Aantjes of research agency Deltares. “But a man can’t handle this.”
